Company provides big bows for big gifts

SHERRY SLATER | The Journal Gazette

See if this sounds familiar: I'm with a group of people at someone's house. Maybe it's a holiday with family. Maybe it's friends gathered to watch a ballgame. But it's usually at holiday time.

And a commercial comes on the TV showing a husband surprising his wife with a new car. Or maybe parents are surprising their daughter with a new car.

Someone ... probably me ... says: "Who can afford to give someone a car for Christmas?"

And some wiseguy ... probably my husband ... says: "What I want to know is: Where do they find that big bow?"

I've experienced some version of that scenario multiple times. But the next time will be different because now I have an answer.

This week I received an email from a company called Car Bow Store, which was announcing the release of its new 28-inch "giant gift bows." That's more than 2 feet wide.

The Pennsylvania company, which said it sells more than 25,000 big bows each year, is offering the bigger bows in four colors: blue, green, red and white.

The 28-inch bows "offer unparalleled rigidity, making them the most attractive and durable big bow on the market," according to a news release.

"This is the best looking car bow available, and we are very proud to have designed, engineered and manufactured this product 100 percent in the United States," the statement continues.

Wanna know the scary part? The Car Bow Store suggests the bigger bow works on more than just cars. It's ideal, the company says, for houses, too.

Who can afford to give someone a house for Christmas?
