TinCaps plan military appreciation day

DYLAN SINN | The Journal Gazette

The TinCaps will host a Military Appreciation Day at Parkview Field on June 10. Tickets for that day's game against the Lansing Lugnuts, which begins at 3:05 p.m., will be free for both active military members and veterans, as well as their families.

During the game, the TinCaps will wear specialty red, white and blue "patriotic" jerseys, the same ones they will wear on Independence Day. On July 4, the jerseys will be auctioned off, with proceeds going to Honor Flight Northeast Indiana, an organization that funds trips for World War II veterans to the war's memorial in Washington, D.C.

"It’s an honor to provide military families the appreciation they deserve on this special day,” TinCaps president Mike Nutter said in a statement. “This gives us an opportunity to give back to the men and women, and their loved ones, who’ve done so much for this country."

The TinCaps have also partnered with military organizations in the area for the game and there will be booths set up at Parkview Field on June 10 with information about organizations in the area that support active and veteran military members.

Those eligible for free tickets at Military Appreciation Day can visit for more information.
