TinCaps fall to Kane County in 12
Kane County's Ernie De La Trinidad scored in the bottom of the 12th inning to lift the Cougars 6-5 over the TinCaps in front of 6,353 fans at Northwestern Medicine Field in Geneva, Illinois on Friday.
De La Trinidad began on second base, per Minor League Baseball's new extra inning rule, and advanced to third on a Tim Susnara bunt ground out.
TinCaps closer Evan Miller (1-1) intentionally walked Luis Alejandro Basabe, leaving runners on the corners. Gabriel Maciel grounded out but De La Trinidad scored.
In the second, TinCaps' Luis Campusano scored when Jack Suwinski reached on a force attempt and Kane County first baseman Yoel Yanqui committed a throwing error.
Esteury Ruiz brought in Justin Lopez and Gabriel Arias on a single to center to make it 3-0 Fort Wayne.
In the fourth, Ruiz hit his fourth double of the season to score Jeisson Rosario.
Jasrado Chisholm scored in the seventh for the Cougars (16-16) when Yoel Yanqui reached on a throwing error. Eudy Ramos hit an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth and the tying runs came in on a Yanqui two-RBI double.
Justin Lopez began the top of the 11th on second base and scored on a Jack Suwinski ground ball to centerfield but Kane County responded in the bottom of the inning when Chisholm scored on a sacrifice fly from Joey Rose.
Kane County's Cole Bartlett (1-0) earned the win as the pitching staff combined for 14 strikeouts.
