Great Lakes finishes win over TinCaps

Cody Thomas homered and singled twice, driving home three runs and scoring a couple as Great Lakes finished a 17-8 win over the TinCaps 17-8 on Friday.
The game was suspended at 12:50 a.m. Friday by Midwest League rules in the eighth inning.
Fort Wayne was retired in order in the bottom of the ninth. The game lasted 3 hours, 41 minutes, though the final out was recorded nearly 21 hours after first pitch.
The inning completed Friday featured position players pitching for both teams, as Tincaps infielder G.K. Young walked one batter in his inning, while Luis Paz retired the side on successive fly balls for Great Lakes.
Great Lakes had three big innings in the blowout victory, scoring four runs in the second and sixth innings, then adding seven more in the eighth.
The key inning was the second, when Steve Berman hit an RBI double and then scored on a single by Luis Paz.
Nolan Long (1-1) got the win in relief, while Ben Sheckler (2-2) took the loss in the Midwest League game.
Marcus Greene doubled and singled, driving home two runs for the TinCaps.
