IU hires Dayton staffer as director of basketball ops

Brian Walsh, an assistant director of basketball operations at Dayton, was announced Tuesday as Indiana's director of basketball operations.
The Hoosiers' new coach, Archie Miller, was the coach at Dayton for the past six seasons.
"Brian has a great mind for the game and was an invaluable member of our staff the past three years," Miller said in a statement issued by IU. "He had a great rapport with our players and a tremendous understanding of the game. His unique talents in so many areas will be a great asset to our program."
Overall, Walsh worked for the Flyers for three years, two as a graduate assistant. A Pennsylvania native, Walsh played college basketball at Xavier and Akron.
"I'm grateful to have the opportunity to become a part of Hoosier Nation," Walsh said in a statement. "I could not ask for a better opportunity than what will be available to me by working alongside such a talented and respected group."
Numbers: The Hoosiers also revealed some jersey numbers. Guard Aljami Durham will wear No. 1, forward Justin Smith No. 3, big man Clifton Moore No. 22 and guard Vijay Blackmon No. 24. Guard Quentin Taylor is switching to No. 5.
