Hoosiers offer North Side's Brooks

JOURNAL GAZETTE

Keion Brooks, who helped lead the North Side boys basketball team to the Class 4A state championship game, has received a scholarship offer from new Indiana coach Archie Miller.

Brooks announced the news Wednesday on his Twitter account, posting that he was "grateful" for the offer and writing, "Go Hoosiers."

The 6-foot-8 All-Northeast Indiana forward averaged 20.5 points and 7.4 rebounds per game as a sophomore in the 2016-17 season.

Rated either a four- or five-star prospect by the major recruiting services, Brooks is No. 14 nationally in Scout.com's rankings of the 2019 class.

Brooks is also being heavily recruited by teams such as Michigan State, Purdue, Kansas State and Xavier. Butler coach Chris Holtmann watched Brooks at the Logansport Regional last month and has also extended an offer.

Brooks' father played at Wright State in the late 1990s. His final two seasons there, Ed Schilling was the coach. Schilling was just hired as one of Miller's three assistants, which some have speculated could lead Brooks to grant more consideration to playing for the Hoosiers.
