Cmdr. Erick Kammeyer, a Woodburn native, was lauded after being relieved as commanding officer of the Eagles of Strike Fighter Squadron on June 19 aboard USS Ronald Reagan.
Kammeyer joined the Eagles as executive officer in February 2017 and assumed command in April 2018.
“Cmdr. Kammeyer has been an amazing leader for the Eagles,” said Cmdr. Christopher Williams after taking command. “He has always dropped everything to do not what is best for him, but what is best for the squadron.”
Established in 1942, the Eagles squadron is one of the oldest active aviation operations in the U.S. Navy.
