An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper was involved in a crash this afternoon in Defiance County, the highway patrol said.

Trooper Dennis Spangler, 42, of the Defiance Post was driving south on Farmer Mark Road when his car was hit in the left front by a driver who failed to yield to oncoming traffic, the highway patrol said in a statement.

The trooper and the driver of the other car, Maxine Cook, 85, of Hicksville, Ohio, were taken to Community Memorial Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, the statement said.

The crash remains under investigation.
