The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for most of northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio on Saturday, with the heaviest snowfall forecast south of Fort Wayne:

Four to 6 inches of snow is expected in an area including Adams, Huntington, Wabash and Wells counties, the weather service said. The advisory is from 5 a.m. to midnight Saturday.

  • Three to 6 inches of snow is expected in an area including Mercer County, Ohio, the weather service said. The advisory is from 7 a.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday.
  • Two to 4 inches of snow is expected in an area including Allen, Kosciusko, Noble and Whitley counties in Indiana and Paulding and Van Wert counties in Ohio, the weather service said. That advisory is from 8 a.m. to midnight Saturday.
  • Two to 3 inches of snow is expected in an area including DeKalb County, Indiana, and Defiance County, Ohio, the weather service said. The advisory is from 8 a.m. to midnight Saturday.

The advisories mean periods of snow will cause travel difficulties, with snow-covered roads and limited visibility, the weather service said. It said drivers should use caution.

A smaller snowfall, 1 to 2 inches, is expected in LaGrange and Steuben counties in Indiana and in Williams County, Ohio, from later Saturday morning through Saturday evening, the weather service said.
