Verbatim: H.O.P.E. for Animals “Spay It Forward” Campaign fills in 24 hours!

Free surgeries to 150 female cats

The following was released on Monday, January 7, 2019 bt H.O.P.E. for Animals:

Fort Wayne, IN (January 7th, 2019) – H.O.P.E. for Animals nonprofit low-cost spay/neuter and wellness clinic announced a special for FREE female cat spay surgeries on New Year’s Day via social media. In less than 24 hours all 150 spots were filled!

This year on Giving Tuesday H.O.P.E. for Animals announced that all donations made that day would go toward providing FREE spay surgeries to female cats during Spay Week in February 2019. The results were amazing – and between donor support and a matching gift from 3 Rivers Credit Union, H.O.P.E. announced they would be able to provide 150 free surgeries to female cats.

“We knew that the special would fill fast, but we had no idea it would fill in less than 24 hours! That is simply amazing and shows how much need there is for spaying and neutering in our community,” says Tyna Reiter, Community Outreach Coordinator for H.O.P.E. for Animals. “Thankfully people are understanding how a simple surgery is saving thousands of animals’ lives each year. It is a simple solution for a very large problem. Female cats are a huge contributor to pet overpopulation since they can have multiple litters each year. We hope that other businesses will choose to support efforts like this with H.O.P.E. so we are able to provide even more specials to help pets and people in need.”

Spaying and neutering is the most effective way to reduce the homeless pet population and to help animals live longer and healthier lives. H.O.P.E. for Animals is currently the only high-volume high-quality, low-cost spay/neuter option in Northeast Indiana.

To date, H.O.P.E. for Animals has provided free or low-cost spay/neuter surgeries to over 80,000 animals and has provided free or low-cost vaccinations to over 165, 000 animals in Fort Wayne and surrounding communities.
