Verbatim: Indiana native wins $400,000 Hoosier Lottery scratch-off prize

Hoosier Lottery issued the following news release today:

INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 3, 2019) — Travis B. was shaking when he looked down at his $10 Big Win Scratch-off. True to the game's name, Travis had won big. He won a top prize of $400,000 on the ticket.

“I saw what matched and the prize under it, and I just lost my breath,” Travis said.

Now living in Alabama, Travis is originally from DeMotte, Indiana. He returned to his hometown to spend the holidays with family.

On Dec. 23, Travis went to Smoke Shop in DeMotte to buy lottery tickets. He played the $10 Big Win ticket in his brother's car before returning home.

When Travis returned home, he gathered the family to share the exciting news of his win.

Travis works for a power systems company in Alabama, helping to ship parts. He's only lived away from Indiana for a couple years. With his prize money, he plans to buy a house and not have to worry about a mortgage.

Two top prizes of $400,000 remain for $10 Big Win as of Dec. 28, 2018.
