2 held in Toll Road drug bust

Another drug bust on the Indiana Toll Road put two behind bars in Steuben County today.

Around 2:15 a.m., an Indiana state trooper stopped a pickup truck for registration violations at the Toll Plaza near Fremont, state police at Fort Wayne said in a statement.

The trooper smelled burnt marijuana coming from the passenger side of the truck and searched it, police said. They said he found more than 100 grams of methamphetamine, along with heroin, marijuana, prescription pills and drug paraphernalia.

Arnold J. Scott, 58, of South Bend and Acasia J. Haynes, 18, of Mishawaka, were both taken to the Steuben County Jail.

Scott was charged with dealing and possession of methamphetamine and possession of heroin, all felonies, and two misdemeanor charges.

Haynes was charged with dealing and possession of methamphetamine, possession of a legend drug and two misdemeanor charges.

Both were being held on $80,000 bond.
