Competency hearing set for New Haven man

MATTHEW LEBLANC | The Journal Gazette

Doctors will testify in July about whether a New Haven man charged with killing his mother in her home last year is competent to stand trial.
Chad A. Ingram, 43, is charged with murder in the death of Heidi Colley in November. Police said they found her beaten and naked on the floor of a bedroom in her Sherbrook Drive home.
Allen County Superior Court Judge Fran Gull in February assigned two doctors to conduct psychological evaluations of Ingram. He refused to participate in one, Gull said in court Thursday, and one doctor found him incompetent to stand trial, which is scheduled to begin Sept. 11.
Gull said she will subpoena the doctors to appear for a competency hearing July 6.
