Judge postpones sentencing in deadly-crash case

Matthew LeBlanc | The Journal Gazette

After more than an hour of tearful testimony, an Allen County judge postponed sentencing a Fort Wayne man who walked away from a deadly crash and did not report it last year.

Justin T. Votaw, 32, pleaded guilty in April to five counts – including three felonies – of leaving the scene of an accident.

In court Friday, Votaw apologized to the victims of the Feb. 20, 2017, crash.

Jonathan E. Tracy, 23, and Alisa D. Arseneau, 24, were killed. Debra and Tony Ferarro were injured in the three-vehicle accident.

Votaw had been scheduled to be sentenced, but Allen Superior Judge John Surbeck pushed that back to June 8.
