Shawn Szydlowski has agreed to terms with the Komets for a fifth straight year, the club announced today.

"This is a big signing for the Komets and our fans," Komets general manager David Franke said in a statement. "Shawn Szydlowski represents what it takes to be a Komet. He is gifted offensively, a solid defender and physical when he needs to be."

Szydlowski, 27, a native of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, is a two-time MVP with the Komets, getting the award in the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons.

Last season he had 25 goals and 41 assists in 50 games, and has ECHL career totals of 100 goals, 144 assists and 244 points in 238 games.

The Fort Wayne preseason roster of 15 players includes five defensemen, eight forwards and two goaltenders.
