The Allen County SPCA issued the following news release Saturday, May 6, 2017:
FORT WAYNE (May 5, 2017) - If you've been thinking of adopting a new four-legged family member, consider doing so at the PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend, this Saturday and Sunday (May 6 and 7, 2017) from 12:00pm to 3:00pm at PetSmart (10260 Maysville Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46835) in the Chapel Ridge shopping center.
The stars of the event will be more than 60 adoptable dogs, cats, puppies and kittens all looking for their forever homes. The shelter at 4914 S. Hanna Street will be closed as staff and volunteers take part in the adoption event.
As always, the Allen County SPCA will be offering same-day adoptions for families who are fully prepared to add a pet to their homes. All animals will be adopted on a first come, first served basis, but priority will be given to pre-approved adopters. Anyone interested in adopting this weekend can find the application on the shelter's website.
"This will be our largest adoption event so far this year!" said executive director, Jessica Henry. "We are grateful to PetSmart Charities for their commitment to pet adoption. They have been a wonderful partner for our shelter, and we appreciate the opportunity to participate in this big, national effort."
Pet adoptions will benefit the Allen County SPCA through the generosity of PetSmart Charities.
The media is invited to attend. Photo opportunities available.
