Fort Wayne, Ind. — Easterseals Arc of Northeast Indiana was recently awarded a grant of $35,000 from AWS Foundation to support community-based enrichment opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The funding will help Easterseals Arc provide a wide range of opportunities including recreation, community field trips, volunteering, social activities, and other community-based activities. The offerings are part of a strategic effort to help individuals with disabilities become more integrated into the community and enhance independence, social skills, life skills, and natural supports.
In addition, the grant will help Easterseals Arc:
Develop individualized plans to match personal skills, interests and goals with opportunities
Provide on-site reading classes and computer literacy training to people with disabilities
Provide training and support to family members, caregivers, employers and other community partners.
Easterseals Arc expects to serve more than 1,000 individuals through community-based opportunities.
