Our urban-school leaders, who are reorganizing, renaming and retooling Common Core standards, are making another costly mistake.

I am a high school student and always look forward to lunch every day, only to be disappointed. The quality and quantity just isn't up to par. Students, especially teens, need more choices.

Let's clear away stench of City Council union busters

In my 25-plus years as an iron worker, I have walked a few picket lines. The people who crossed our lines were called “scabs” or “rats,” but we never had anybody try to do away with our union. So there was never a name for union busters.

I think a good name for union busters should be “skunk.” A skunk is a small animal that ejects a foul-smelling musky liquid when disturbed.

We have six of these animals on the City Council. Two of these skunks on the council think nobody should have the right to collective bargaining or to unionize. One skunk reaps the benefits of union wages but doesn’t think others should.

The last council meeting in June, they got together and ejected a foul-smelling odor that left a stench over northern Indiana that tornado winds can’t blow away.

Clean out the skunk den; vote the skunks out of office.
