CHEERS to the Foellinger Foundation for its generous funding of the Allen County Public Library's Summer Reading Program. Because of their generosity, the children, teens and families of Allen County have so many wonderful opportunities to learn and have fun throughout the summer. The foundation makes our community a much better place.

CHEERS to Alan. I was lost July 21, and he was so wonderful. He didn't just give me directions, he actually asked me to follow him to my destination. He drove slowly and even pulled over once because a truck got between us. The best part is that he told me it was a blessing for him to help me. I hope to someday pay it forward.
CHEERS to SDI, a wonderful corporate sponsor, and Dan Wire for his tireless efforts to teach us all about the rivers in Fort Wayne. It was wonderful to see more than 4,000 people be able to see our great city from a different point of view – the river. I was a docent/driver for the event and heard very positive comments all three days.
CHEERS to the Fort Wayne Community Band for the free concerts they perform each summer at the Foellinger Outdoor Theatre. Our community is fortunate to have these wonderful concerts. Their next concert at the Foellinger theatre is Aug. 12.

JEERS to the driver who ran the red light at the intersection of Wayne and Calhoun streets about 11:40 a.m. on July 25. I was a pedestrian – in the crosswalk – and the navy blue sedan headed east on Wayne nearly hit me. As bad as this is, it was exacerbated by the fact that the car had big white letters identifying it as a driver education vehicle.
CHEERS to the woman who found my lost cellphone on the side of the road and returned it to a local Sprint store. I was beside myself with worry for a couple of days, wondering where I had lost it. While it would have been costly to replace, I was even more relieved to get back my pictures. I am more than grateful for your honesty and kindness.
CHEERS to 76 people from 39 schools who attended Northeast Region PTA Packet Training on July 22. It was wonderful to see so many leaders give up time in the summer to get ready for back to school. Thank you to the following schools for participating: Irwin, South Side, Miami, Price, Indian Village, Harrison Hill, Lane, Glenwood Park, Northrop, Shambaugh, Haley, Garrett, Croninger, Wayne, Waynedale, Holland, Bunche, Towles, Kekionga, Portage, Lincoln, South Wayne, Lakeside, Blackhawk, Snider, Maplewood, Jefferson, Northcrest, Northwood, Shawnee, Harris, Young, Weisser, Study, Nebraska, Memorial Park, Lindley, JE Ober, Adams and Washington Center.
