Today's society the result of ignoring God's law

I read with amusement David Shaw's letter of July 20. His letter demonstrates that, when one cannot make a cogent argument, they resort to ridicule and misinformation.

The ridicule comes as a result of our society creating an atmosphere where anyone who espouses a conservative Christian perspective is immediately castigated and scorned. According to Shaw, we should just accept that this is the way things are going to be.

What Shaw and those like him either willfully or ignorantly refuse to understand is when something is used or done outside of the purpose for which it was designed or intended, chaos and confusion result. When sexual intimacy is outside of the one-man, one-woman marriage covenant, it creates all kinds of problems because that was not its intended design. Where did all the STDs come from? Where did the AIDS virus come from? Why are there so many children born into single-parent households?

God gave us his law and his word for our protection, not because he's some cosmic killjoy. God knew that if we stepped outside of his intended design, there would be consequences, and today we have reaped what we have sown.
