No one injured as fire damages house

A house southeast of downtown was badly damaged by fire early Sunday.

Firefighters were called to 3505 Monroe St. at 3:39 a.m.

They found heavy smoke and fire coming from three sides of the building, according to a statement from the Fort Wayne Fire Department.

A search found no occupants, and no injuries were reported, the fire department said.

The fire, which compromised the integrity of the two-story building, is under investigation.
