Apartment attack, robbery investigated

Three people told police they were tied up on the floor of their northwest-side apartment as three men ransacked it and stomped on the face of one of the residents.

Fort Wayne police were called late Wednesday to the 2200 bock of Point West Drive – in West Wind Apartments – near Harris and Goshen roads and Coliseum Boulevard, and found the three victims. They had to use a neighbor’s phone to report the crime because theirs were stolen, according to a police report.

The three told police someone knocked on the apartment’s door and a resident opened it. A woman started to ask a question when the door flew open and three men rushed into the apartment, the report said.

The residents told police they were tied up on the floor with television cables and shoe strings while the robbers rummaged through the apartment and took phones, car keys, clothes and cash.

One of the residents said a robber stomped on his face and caused injuries to his nose, teeth and right eye.
