Shooting reported at Paine College in Georgia

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Officials say a shooting has been reported at a college in Georgia, prompting the campus to be closed and locked down.

Paine College spokeswoman Tonya Williams said the school is working with the Richmond County sheriff’s office to investigate what happened Monday.

Sgt. Michael McDaniel told WJBF-TV that at least one person was shot inside a building on campus, and it’s unclear if the shooting is related to a separate shooting Sunday afternoon.

The condition of the person shot Monday was not immediately clear.

Paine College’s website said the private school has a little more than 800 students and is about 140 miles east of Atlanta.
