Power outage hits in Fort Wayne

Northeastern REMS was reporting at 11:45 a.m. Saturday that nearly 2,300 customers in the Fort Wayne area were without service.

Most were in the 46825 and 46845 ZIP codes, according to the outage map.

Shortly afterward, power was restored to most users.

Statement as issued by the company:

"Service has been restored to the area west of Dupont Rd. and I-69. If you are still out at this time, please check your main breaker and if you are still out, call our office at 260-625-3700.

"An equipment failure in the substation caused both transformers to go off-line. The piece of equipment was isolated and service returned to normal."
