FORT WAYNE – The leader and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana was recognized Wednesday for her role in the community and her dedication to empowering women.
Josette Rider was named the 2014 Athena Award winner.
The international Athena Award program recognizes women who demonstrate excellence, creativity and initiative in work while also giving back to the community and empowering women.
The Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce, part of Greater Fort Wayne Inc., launched the local contest in 2005.
More than 6,000 individuals have received Athena Awards worldwide. Eleven were nominated this year for the local award and 11 others were nominated for the Athena Young Professional Leadership Award.
Rachida Bejja, clinical director for Quality Counseling and Psychological Services, received the Young Professional Leadership Award.
