  • Bootland not coming to K's
    You may have heard that Darryl Bootland has defected from the CHL's Allen Americans to join a team in the ECHL. It's not the Komets, according to general manager David Franke.
  • Szydlowski would like bigger role with K's
    Shawn Szydlowski, who re-signed with the Komets today, said he hopes to have a top-line type of role this season.
  • AHL could be coming to town
    There is a possibility the American Hockey League's Lake Erie Monsters and Grand Rapids Griffins will play an exhibition game at Memorial Coliseum on Oct. 4.

K's need a power surge

The Komets power play has shown some signs of life lately, but it still must be better if they want to defeat Reading in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals, which begin Thursday.

Some interesting stats:

Fort Wayne has the 13th ranked offense (2.99 goals per game) and the 12th ranked defense (2.99 goals against per game. Reading has the No. 4 offense (3.18) and No. 4 defense (2.53).

On the power play, Fort Wayne ranks 19th (14 percent efficiency) and Reading is ninth (16.5 percent)

On the penalty kill, Fort Wayne ranks third (86.3 percent) and Reading is second (86.5 percent)
