TinCaps’ rally comes up short

The TinCaps fell too far behind Kane County on Thursday to complete a second comeback in Geneva, Ill., as they lost 7-5.

The Cougars (4-3) pounded starter Walker Weickel for six runs, four earned, on five hits in the first two innings.

The TinCaps (2-5) cut their deficit to 6-5 thanks to Franmil Reyes’ solo home run in the fourth and a four-run sixth inning, but the couldn’t score again as Kane County added a run in the eighth.

Pitcher Cory Bostjancic was called up to the TinCaps from extended spring training to replace pitcher Matt Chabot, who was placed on the disabled list Tuesday.
