    Mallex Smith, who was the TinCaps' center fielder for the 2013 season and the first half of 2014, was voted by fans as the top offensive player in the minor leagues during the past season.

TinCaps lose to Clinton

The TinCaps were limited to six hits in a 7-1 loss to the Clinton LumberKings on Friday in Clinton, Iowa.

LumberKings starter Carlos Misell (2-0) went four innings and allowed four hits and one earned run. He struck out four and walked one and lowered his ERA to 0.84. Mark Bordonaro earned his first save by pitching 3 1/3 innings and giving up two hits and zero runs while striking out three.

Fort Wayne(2-6) committed three errors. Franmil Reyes and Fernando Perez each had two hits for the TinCaps, with Franchy Cordero and Henry Charles each accounting for one.

TinCaps starter Pete Kelich (0-2) allowed six hits, three runs (one earned) and struck out seven with one walk in four innings.

Clinton(5-3) had 14 hits. Austin Wilson had four hits and knocked in three runs, while Marcus Littlewood had three hits and two RBI and Jack Reinheimer had three hits and scored three runs.

Fort Wayne scored its lone run in the second inning to tie the game at 1. Luis Tejada had the RBI.
