Officials in a northern New Jersey town are discussing whether to allow taping of an MTV show featuring Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi’s wedding.

The cast member of the reality series “Jersey Shore” and “Snooki and JWoww” spinoff intends to marry her fiancé, Jionni LaValle, at the Venetian banquet hall in Garfield in the fall. The couple has a 1-year-old son.

Mayor Joseph Delaney tells The (Bergen County) Record that taping in Garfield could be a great thing.

But Councilman Frank Calandriello has concerns about how the city would be portrayed.

‘Wind’ prequel due

Decades after the publication of “Gone With the Wind,” Mammy is finally getting a back story.

Simon & Schuster imprint Atria announced Thursday that it will publish Donald McCaig’s “Ruth’s Journey” in October. A prequel to Margaret Mitchell’s million-selling 1936 novel, the book was authorized by Mitchell’s estate. McCaig previously wrote an authorized spinoff focused on Rhett Butler, “Rhett’s People.”

“Ruth’s Journey” will track Scarlett O’Hara’s no-nonsense servant’s life from her arrival in Georgia in the early 19th century. In 1939, Mammy was immortalized on film by Hattie McDaniel, who became the first black performer to win an Academy Award.

2 websites closing

The entertainment news and lifestyle service DailyCandy will close April 4 after 14 years, parent NBCUniversal said Thursday.

It was “no longer viable,” according to a company statement.

The NBCUniversal statement said it was also closing the TV forum and review website Television Without Pity for the same reason, though the chat forums will remain open until May 31.

Award named

An award honoring emerging fashion designers has been named for L’Wren Scott.

The award was created by The Art of Elysium, an organization that brings the arts to hospitalized children. The L’Wren Scott Amber Award honors Scott, who committed suicide March 17, and Amber, a child who had a brain tumor and who participated in The Art of Elysium’s fashion workshops for hospitalized kids.

Meanwhile, various media outlets reported that Scott’s will left her $8 million Manhattan condo and her personal possessions to her boyfriend, Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger.
