Macy’s joins drive for Lawton Park

Lawton Park will be the local recipient of a fundraising partnership between the National Recreation and Park Association and Macy’s department store, the city announced Monday.

From now until March 31, people will be able to donate $1 or more at the Fort Wayne Macy’s store in Glenbrook Square. Macy’s will match the first $250,000 raised.

All proceeds will go into a fund for Lawton Park, the city said in a statement.

Macy’s customers do not need to make a purchase to make a donation. Customers may ask for a form at the store that will document the donation for a tax deduction.

Money raised from Macy’s and its customers will be used for future improvements to Kid’s Crossing Playground at Lawton Park, which is between Science Central and Headwaters Park.
