Forward Chris Auger scored a short-handed goal 14:21 into the third period Sunday night, as the Komets defeated the Evansville IceMen 1-0 at the Ford Center.
Goaltender Ben Meisner stopped all 35 shots he faced for his second shutout with the Komets, who had lost three of their previous five games.
The local radio broadcast of the game was canceled because broadcaster Bob Chase wasn't feeling well.
"Bob will be fine," team president Michael Franke said. "It was a situation with his medication."
Mike Clemente stopped 24 shots for the IceMen, in front of 5,048 fans, but he was foiled when Fort Wayne's Dean Ouellet was in the penalty box serving a hooking penalty.
Evansville (25-19-10) was 0 for 5 on power plays. Fort Wayne (26-18-11) was 0 for 2.
Fort Wayne is 4-3-1 against Evansville this season. It was Meisner's first appearance in the series, and for Auger it was his fourth goal.
