Songwriters class

Ray Davies and Donovan are among the 2014 class of the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

The organization announced Tuesday that “Midnight Train to Georgia” writer Jim Weatherly and English songwriter Graham Gouldman also made the cut. Mark James, the writer of “Always on My Mind” – covered by Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson – rounds out the list of five inductees.

The 45th annual Songwriters Hall of Fame gala will be June 12.

‘Mob City’ whacked

Frank Darabont’s post-“Walking Dead” work life is off to a zombie-crawl, with TNT deciding to cancel his period noir drama “Mob City.”

The series was billed as a three-week TV event, with two back-to-back episodes trying to capitalize on the idea of binge-viewing. Though it was publicized as a limited series, it had the potential to continue if ratings proved sufficient.

The series was eyed as a redemption of sorts for the writer and producer. It was Darabont’s follow-up to AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” the cable powerhouse he was unceremoniously booted from as show runner early in its run.
