Fort Wayne man sentenced to 23 years for shotgun slaying

A 28-year-old Fort Wayne man was sentenced Monday morning to 23 years in prison for his role in the February 2013 shotgun slaying of Antonio Galvan III.

Augustus Marshall offered nothing by way of apology or statement before Allen Superior Judge John Surbeck accepted his guilty plea and handed down the sentence dictated by the agreement: three years on a single count of residential entry, and 30 years on a charge of voluntary manslaughter.

The sentences will be served at the same time, and under the terms of the agreement, seven years were ordered suspended and to be served on probation.

Galvan was shot to death after Marshall and 23-year-old Jose Lopez came to his door, looking to collect a $2,000 drug debt owed to them, according to court documents.

Last week, Lopez was also sentenced to 23 years in prison on charges of residential entry, aggravated battery and obstruction of justice.
