Mad Ants smashed on road

The Mad Ants lost for the second time in the last three games, falling 96-82 on Sunday to the Canton Charge in front of 2,794 fans at the Canton Memorial Civic Center.

Tony R. Mitchell led Fort Wayne (17-13) with 21 points – he was 8 of 17 from the field – in a game that wasn't as close as the final score would indicate.

The Mad Ants never led by more than two points, while the Charge (20-11) led by as many as 36 and increased its lead in the East Division to three games over second-place Fort Wayne.

The two Detroit Pistons prospects down with the Mad Ants, Peyton Siva and the other Tony Mitchell, bolstered the Fort Wayne scoring attack. Siva had 17 points – he was 4 of 8 from 3-point range – and Mitchell added 11 points and five rebounds.

All-Star Ron Howard had nine points for Fort Wayne and Orlando Johnson, playing his second game since being sent down by the Indiana Pacers, had five points and seven rebounds. He was 2 of 15 from the field.

Canton, which led by as many as 31 points in the first half, was paced by 17 points apiece from Arinze Onuaku and Shane Edwards. Onuaku also had 18 rebounds. Sergey Karasev had 16 points for the Charge.

Canton improved to 12-4 at home, while Fort Wayne is 8-7 on the road.
