3 years’ probation for voyeurism

Surreptitiously taking a video with a cellphone camera while a 12-year-old girl stepped out of a shower netted a sentence of three years’ probation Thursday in Allen Superior Court.

Sylvester A. Harvey Jr., 35, of the 8300 block of Chapel Bend Drive, pleaded guilty to a single charge of felony voyeurism and was sentenced to three years’ probation, with the first nine months to be served on electronic home monitoring, according to court documents.

According to court documents, Harvey took the video of the then-12-year-old girl in October 2012. The girl noticed the phone hidden in a basket and recording as she stepped out of the shower. When the girl looked at the video, she saw Harvey placing the phone into its position.
