Purdue, Northwestern pause for moment of silence

EVANSTON, Ill. – Purdue and Northwestern observed a moment of silence before their basketball game hours after a shooting on the Boilermakers’ campus.

An engineering student opened fire inside a basement classroom at Purdue, killing a teaching assistant earlier Tuesday.

The Boilermakers were not on campus when the shooting occurred. They made the 140-mile trip from West Lafayette on Monday because there was snow in the forecast and there were no classes because of Martin Luther King Day.
