  • Some updates for you
I don't have anything new to report on the alleged merger between the ECHL and CHL -- wouldn't it actually be an absorption of the CHL?

Eighteen Komets road games this season will be broadcast live on MyTV Fort Wayne. Play-by-play duties will be handled by 21 Alive’s Tommy Schoegler and Kent Hormann.

Mind-blowing numbers

I don't know what's crazier, these numbers or that I think I'm missing one.

Anyway, by my count, the Komets have made nine trades in the last eight weeks.

They have sent nine players to other teams: Nick Tuzzolino, Rob Kwiet, Brett Lyon, Bobby Hughes, Phil Mangan, Mickey Lang, Cody Reichard, Mike Vaskivuo and Nik Pokulok.

They have acquired eight players, not including David Rutherford, who wouldn't report: Kenton Miller, Brett Lyon (yes the same one), Jordon Southorn, Nathan Martine, Mike Embach, Ben Meisner, Matt Carter and Christian Ouellet.

The Komets are still owed future considerations by Orlando (for Lang) and Utah (for Reichard).

These don't even include players like John Muse, called up, and Tristan King, who asked to be reassigned by the Dallas Stars.

But the Komets also gained players by assignment: Andrey Makarov and Shawn Szydlowski.

I've covered the Komets since 1997 and never seen anything remotely like this.
