1 suspect in stabbing arrested

A man was arrested early Saturday after stabbing and critically injuring a woman, Fort Wayne police said.

The stabbing occurred about 4 a.m. at 2615 Fairfield View Place, police said.

Michael R. Johnson, 21, of Fort Wayne, was arrested on a preliminary charge of felony aggravated battery. The victim, a woman, was in critical condition at a hospital, police said.

They attributed the stabbing to a domestic disturbance.

Police were responding to a report of a woman screaming at 4 a.m. when an officer was flagged down by a motorist transporting the victim to the hospital, police said.

Johnson left the scene before police arrived, but he was arrested later without incident at his home in the 300 block of E. McKinney Avenue, police said.
