  • Claim of Iraq WMDs is a bipartisan blame game
Will the Journal Gazette letter-writing political hacks ever tire of blaming George W. Bush for all of Iraq’s problems; e.g., Tim Tiernon’s letter in the July 17 issue. Tiernon apparently has a short memory.
  • Intelligence, instinct beat diversity in firefighting
Is Fire Chief Eric Lahey a firefighter or a social engineer? I think he should be fired. There is no other way to deal with someone who is as blinded by race as he obviously is.
  • Among Hoosier politicians, ambition tops common sense
We used to be rather proud of Indiana and its hardworking, common-sense people. Maybe not so much anymore. There are those among us who want to rewrite our nation’s Constitution.

Web letter: Maybe the voters need to elect Ritz governor

I’m tired of the Republicans trying to marginalize Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz’s position.

The voters of this state elected her because we felt her positions on education were the best for the children of our state.

I don’t want our schools privatized like our toll road was. Our public schools should remain forever public.

Now the Center for Education and Career Innovation, created by Gov. Mike Pence, is trying to get the law changed to basically wipe out the will of the people of Indiana and eliminate her position.

Let me be the first to say: Glenda Ritz for governor in 2016. Maybe then the kids will come first, good sense will prevail and Medicaid will be extended to people not covered by the Affordable Care Act and the mean-spirited sore losers would respect what the voters want.
