Sunday shooting death is ruled homicide

A man who was found Sunday afternoon in an alley that runs east of Central Drive on Fort Wayne's southeast side was shot to death, according to the Allen County Coroner's Office.

The coroner's office ruled the death a homicide, the 43rd for the county in 2013. All but two of the year's homicides have happened in Fort Wayne.

The victim's name has not been released, pending notification of next of kin, the coroner's office said.

Police said they were called to the alley behind 3100 Central Drive – two blocks east of South Anthony Boulevard – at 3:08 p.m.

The number of homicides recorded in Allen County in 1997 – 44 – is the record.
