Boyfriend found dead in home

A woman came home Sunday night to find her boyfriend dead inside a house in the 7400 block of Placer Run, Fort Wayne police said.

Officer Michael Joyner, a police spokesman, said the cause of death was not known, but he confirmed that a crime team was investigating the death.

An unresponsive adult male was discovered inside the single-story house and was pronounced dead on the scene by medics, according to Joyner.

Police did not release the man’s name Sunday night.

The police received a call about 7:40 p.m. from the man’s girlfriend, who had arrived home and discovered his body, he said.

Both lived at the residence, and the man was the only person in the house when his girlfriend found him, Joyner said.

About a dozen neighbors gathered on sidewalks near the residence in below freezing temperatures and talked quietly.

The victim’s mother ran to the house, crying that the dead man was “her boy,” but police barred her from entering the home.

An autopsy will be conducted today to determine the cause and manner of death, Joyner said.
