Orthoworx gets $2.5 million in fundraising campaign

A Warsaw organization that supports the orthopedics industry today announced it generated more than $2.5 million from a recent fundraising effort, including a dollar-for-dollar match by the Lilly Endowment.

OrthoWorx had previously received a $4 million grant from the endowment, bringing the total received to more than $6.5 million, officials said.

The money will be used to support the non-profit organization’s initiatives, which include training for high-tech orthopedics manufacturing jobs and lobbying for legislation that benefits the industry.

The organization also supports Warsaw-area arts and recreation programs, which are considered draws for orthopedics executives.

Oct. 15 was the deadline for pledges. The Lilly Endowment had offered to match orthopedics-industry-related gifts up to $3.5 million.

Sheryl Conley, OrthoWorx president and CEO, said the fundraising effort was a success even though it didn’t leverage all the money it could have.

“Given the three-month time frame of the campaign, we are delighted with the commitment shown by our donors to the important work we do in building on our region’s strengths,” she said in a statement.
