Satek Winery in Fremont will be showing appreciation for French wines with its release of the nouveau-style wine Thursday – the same day as the official release date of Beaujolais Nouveau wines in France.
Tradition has the nouveau wine released on the third Thursday of November.
Nouveau, meaning new, refers to wines that are released in the same year in which the grapes are harvested. Satek Winery’s version – Kreibaum Bay Nouveau – was created from recently harvested Marechal Foch grapes.
The Nouveau wine is popular because the bitter tannins, normally found in red wines, aren’t there, leaving an easy-to-drink, fruity wine. It is best served chilled and enjoyed during the first month. It costs $11.21 a bottle.
The winery is hosting its annual Holiday Open House this weekend. There will be extended hours Friday, until 9 p.m., and merchandise will be 20 percent off.
Special dinners for Thanksgiving continue to roll in from area restaurants.
The Lucky Moose, 622 E. Dupont Road, is hosting a Thanksgiving rehearsal dinner Nov. 27. From 5 to 9 p.m., there will be a buffet featuring everything but traditional holiday fare – beer-battered catfish, pecan-crusted chicken and pulled pork among other items. The $13.13 buffet also comes with soup and salad bar, a variety of vegetables, homemade bread pudding and chocolate cake. From 9 p.m. to close, there will be 13-cent wings (boneless or regular wings). Must be ordered in quantities of 10. To toast the holidays, the restaurant is unveiling a new drink menu with 13 martinis and 11 specialty drinks that day.
Don Hall’s Triangle Park, 3010 Trier Road, will be open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 28 with a special menu featuring roast turkey, homemade dressing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, sweet corn and choice of soup or salad. Also on the menu, served with two side dishes are center-cut Ossian ham, raspberry pecan chicken and baked scrod. The dinners are $13.99 for adults, $11.99 for seniors and $5.99 for children 12 and younger.

Red River Steak House at Hotel Fort Wayne, 305 E. Washington Center Road, is hosting a holiday buffet Nov. 28. Among the dishes on the line will be carved turkey, carved baron of beef, Grand Marnier whipped yams, sage stuffing and fall squash vegetables. Desserts include peach infused bread pudding, cherries jubilee and assorted pies, cheesecakes and cakes. Bob Evans restaurants will be open from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. Nov. 28, offering a limited menu. Holiday menu items include slow-roasted turkey dinner and hickory smoked ham meal; each are served with sides and pie for $12.99. For early risers, Bob Evans will offer menu favorites like the Farmer’s Choice, The Rise & Shine, and for kids, the Lil’ Farmer’s Breakfast.
It was a quiet opening for the 19th Hole in August, but now the Tillman Road sports bar and grill is ready to celebrate.
The revamped restaurant, in the former Lambro’s at 303 E. Tillman Road, is hosting a grand opening Nov. 30. There will be hors d’oeuvres, door prizes and drink specials. From 9 p.m. to midnight, there will be entertainment from Ty Causey with W.R. Sanders. The cover charge is $5.
Deb Christensen, day bar manager, says the 19th Hole is serving sandwiches, shrimp and wings. Popular items are the fried turkey club and the house fries, which are smothered with cheddar and bacon and served with a cool ranch dip.
