Commissioners seek to name U.S. 24 section for Phyllis Pond

Allen County commissioners have asked the General Assembly to name a portion of U.S. 24 in honor of former Rep. Phyllis Pond of New Haven.

Pond, who served 35 years in the legislature, died Sept. 22. The legislators convene in January.

The resolution seeks that the section of U.S. 24 between U.S. 30 and State Line Road be called the "Representative Phyllis J. Pond Memorial Highway."

Commissioners said Pond advocated for the construction of the U.S. 24 Fort to Port project.
