IPFW opens home slate

The IPFW men’s basketball team tips off its home schedule tonight at Gates Center against IU Kokomo.

The game is the first part of the Texas A&M Corpus Christi’s Holiday Inn Downtown Marina Islanders Basketball Tournament.

The Mastodons (0-1) will play three games in three days this weekend at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, starting with the host team on Friday. IPFW plays Texas-Pan American on Saturday and Tennessee Tech on Sunday.

The Mastodons lost their season opener last Saturday, falling 81-80 at Dayton on a last-second 3-pointer.

Pierre Bland scored a career-high 18 points against the Flyers, and Steve Forbes matched his career-high with 17 points.

The Cougars, an NAIA team, are 0-4 this season. They are led by Jerome Campbell, who is averaging 9.8 points, and David Kelly, who is averaging 8 points.
