IPFW wins home opener

IPFW cruised to a 90-62 win over IU Kokomo in the team's home opener Monday night in Gates Center.

The Mastodons (1-1) scored 62 points in the paint to the Cougars' 12, and IPFW scored 30 points off 17 turnovers by IU Kokomo (0-5).

Joe Reed scored 21 points and had eight rebounds for IPFW,and Michael Kibiloski added 20 points. Steve Forbes scored 14, and Joe Edwards had 10 points.

Spencer Krhin was the only IU Kokomo player to score in double figures with 14.

The game was the first of four IPFW will play as part of the Texas A&M Corpus Christi's Holiday Inn Downtown Marina Islanders Basketball Tournament.

The Mastodons will play three games in three days this weekend at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, starting with the host team on Friday. IPFW plays Texas-Pan American on Saturday and Tennessee Tech on Sunday.
