Ants open camp

The Mad Ants kicked off the 2013-14 season at the Concordia Theological Seminary.

Ants kick off camp

The Mad Ants had their first practice of the season this morning -- check out the video above -- and it was new coach Conner Henry's chance to see his squad in action.

While he expected the morning session to be almost all about fundamentals, with a lot more 5-on-5 in the afternoon session, it didn't exactly pan out that way.

"I thought it was a pretty good start," Henry said. "Having 17 guys is a lot of bodies. The plan is for the mornings, we're going to teach and they're not going to be going up and down (the court) as much. But we did get going up and down quite a bit this morning."

The practice was at the Concordia Theological Seminary.

"I thought the energy was good. They were here, bouncing for the first day of camp. They know it's important," Henry said.

Guard Ron Howard said it's way too soon to see what the Mad Ants have talent-wise, but he liked the work ethic.

"We have a lot of new, young guys," he said. "It's tough to say right now (what we'll be). But everybody has the right attitude and is working really hard."
