Today marks the quadrennial non-election year; that welcome lull between federal, state and local elections.
Not everyone is enjoying the peace and quiet, however. There are heated election battles in New York City, where voters will choose the successor to Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Statewide, New York voters will consider six proposed constitutional amendments, including one to expand casino gambling.
In Virginia, the gubernatorial contest has drawn national attention, with Democrats working to paint Republican Ken Cuccinelli as a tea party sympathizer.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is expected to win big over his Democratic challenger, most likely improving his standing for a GOP bid for president in 2016.
Ohioans will vote in local races, and in Muncie, voters residing in the Muncie Community Schools district will determine the fate of a referendum to raise money for bus transportation.
If you live in northeast Indiana, however, ignore that Election Day notice on your calendar and enjoy the lull before next year’s midterm contests.
