  • K's fall to 5 in power rankings, get new player
The Komets have signed Brett Beebe, who was in training camp with them and has been playing with Pensacola of the Southern Professional Hockey League.
  • Things to check out
For the first time this season, the Komets aren't on top of the Eastern Conference standings. Losing three of five games will do that to a team.
  • Bad loss yields great highlights
Even though the Komets lost 3-1 to the Greenville Road Warriors -- and lost their hold on first place in the Eastern Conference for the first time this season -- I think you will enjoy the highlights in the video here.

Marino nets lone goal; Schrock fights

For the first time this season, the Komets failed to net the first goal.

And they wound up with something all too familiar -- a loss, 2-1 to the Las Vegas Wranglers on Saturday night.

After Jeff May opened the scoring for the Wranglers 18:22 into the first period, during a power play, Fort Wayne's Brandon Marino answered with a 40-foot wrist shot at 6:22 of the second period.

But the game-winning goal came at 15:16 of the third period, when Greg Coburn's shot from just inside the blue line found the back of the net.

Goaltender Andrey Makarov stopped 28 shots for Fort Wayne (1-2-2).

Travis Fullerton had 36 saves for the Wranglers (3-5-0).

The game opened with a fight between Fort Wayne's Lincoln Kaleigh Schrock and Alexandre Mentink.

The teams meet again today.

Note: Before the game, the Wranglers signed forward Bruce Reddick, the son of legendary Komets goalie Pokey Reddick, who was undefeated en route to the IHL's 1993 Turner Cup championship. ... Former UHL commissioner Richard Brosal attended the game.
