Reports: Hoosiers land commitment from Max Hoetzel

Indiana received its second commitment in the 2014 class Sunday, according to reports from ESPN.com and Scout.com.

Max Hoetzel, a 6-foot-7 power forward out of Wilbraham & Monson Academy in Massachusetts, gave his pledge to the Hoosiers. Hoetzel is a California native and, according to Paul Biancardi of ESPN.com, one of the best shooters for his size in the country.

Hoetzel didn't have much star power prior to his commitment, which came after an official visit Saturday. He is a three-star recruit according to the 247Composite, a service from 247Sports.com that aggregates the rankings from ESPN, Scout, Rivals.com and 247Sports into one consensus ranking. His most high-profile offer other than IU, according to those sites, was from St. John's.

Kansas and Florida had also expressed interest in Hoetzel.

The power forward joins top-75 combo guard Robert Johnson in the 2014 class. IU coach Tom Crean has one recruit left on his list for 2014 at the moment: Devin Robinson, a five-star shooting guard out of Virginia who will announce his decision Wednesday. Notre Dame, Oklahoma State and Florida are his other finalists.
